First the Avant dick tease at that cars 'n Coffee, now this. An S3 hatch just sitting out in the open. In the US. Just sitting there for anyone to look at, inquire about, lust over, but not buy.
Can't wait for them to bring a Scirocco to the next Cars 'n Coffee for another round of 'murican blue balls...

Like all vag, VAG is just one cock-tease after another. Until it goes to Europe for spring brake and all the sudden it's an all you can eat buffet.

I don't understand how there's a market for the Golf R but not an S3. They are basically the same car, right? I'd rather have an Audi than a VW at the Golf R price point, and if I was in that market I'd gladly pay an extra $5,000 for Audi styling and MMI.

But there was nothing worse than that RS4 sitting there...taunting me. Question, these Euro spec cars that are not federalized for US sale but are in the US, can they be driven by VAG employees on public roads? Is there ever an issue with law enforcement? How does that work?

I'm not certain of the specifics behind it. Lord knows they don't hand the RS4 keys over to just anybody. I had to admire it from afar.

But someone must be able to drive it around legally, just curious as to how VAG works that out with local regulations. I know you don't have the answer and that is cool. I'm just fantasizing if I ever did win the Powerball or became filthy rich otherwise if I could work something out with VAG to have an RS6 in the US as a "test" vehicle. ;)

Personally, I think it has to do with supply and demand. Bringing, say, a Scirocco to shows and gauging public response is good research. It helps establish whether the market is, in fact, there for it. But I imagine it costs a great deal to federalize cars for US sale, and to ship them over from the factories in Europe.
Personally, I don't see them as "teases." It's cool to get to see them. I think it's great to be able to see an RS4 Avant at Cars and Coffee, even if it isn't for sale here. It's more than many other automakers have done. BMW never brought over an M5 estate, and Jaguar hasn't showed us the XF wagon. But if they did, I'd be tickled pink!

Well, it's a good dream to have!

Not sure if we are talking about cars or what here. Either way I am aroused.

Hmm...VAG isn't hiring, are they? 'Cause I would totally offer to pick up some groceries..................and rallycross the crap out of an RS4 Avant. You know, for testing and stuff.

You would have to ask the Jagvar...but I know Aston had some job postings not long ago.
